Letters and Candy Lockets

About

Maizy and Izzy were each other’s best friends, this was a monumental summer for them, they would be heading in the seventh grade in September – Izzy was excited, but Maizy had her concerns. For the past two summers, they spent most of their days at Long Wharf Beach on the beautiful island of New Providence, Bahamas and their afternoons hanging out on the back wall that separated their properties. They have been spending time affixed on that wall from they were six years old, eating fruits that were in season and Maizy caring for his bee stings, rubbing onions as she said to get rid of the poison. At the start of seventh grade, Izzy decided that he and Maizy would still keep their friendship a secret though they now attended CAS High School together. Within a matter of weeks, their lives were turned upside down when Ms. Winder, Izzy’s mother decided to move back to the United States following the untimely death of her mother. There was no time to say any goodbyes, one day they were adjusting to high school and in a blink, her best friend was gone. How would she cope without him? She was devastated. Of all the days for him to move away, she was anxious to get home and meet him at their wall to show him her math grade but instead found a letter under a rock, on the spot he would be sitting and waiting for her. A touching story about friendship, separation, love, loss, and reconciliation.
